CLUB COMPETITIONS
Annual Award PDI. Three 'Open' competitions in Preliminary and Advanced sections, with up to 2 entries per member in each.
Annual Award Mono Print. Three 'Open' competitions in Preliminary and Advanced sections, with up to 2 entries per member.
Annual Award Colour Print. Three 'Open' competitions in Preliminary and Advanced sections, with up to 2 entries per member.
'Judge for yourself'. One 'Open' just for fun competition. 2 PDI entries per member with no separate sections. All PDIs entered are shown on screen in no particular order, members then mark their 1st, 2nd & 3rd favourites on a voting slip, after which the slips are counted to find out the winning 1st, 2nd & 3rd as voted by the members. While the voting takes place an in-house judge gives his/her critique on all entries and choses their own 1st, 2nd and 3rd (not always the same result!).
Annual Triptych Panel of 3 PDI. One 'Open' competition in Preliminary and Advanced sections, with up to 2 entries per member. An entry is a single image file comprising three separate photographs. The purpose in showing the three photographs together is to demonstrate their connections, to tell a stronger story and to present visually a more attractive whole.
Presidents Trophy. One competition with 2 entries per member with no separate sections. The subject of this competition will be set annually by the President.
Annual Print Exhibition. In this competition trophies are awarded in Preliminary and Advanced sections for Best Mono and Best Colour. There are also trophies for Best Portrait, Nature, Landscape, Non-conventional and Best Overall Print. The number of Print entries per member will be announced later in the season.
The Stan Bewick Summer Challenge. One A4 unmounted print - members choose one from 40 blank envelopes, each containing an individual subject. The winner receives the 'Stan Bewick Glass Plate' and a photo frame for their print.

For the Annual Print Exhibition do not forget the non-conventional section for which there are no rules (except that entries must be photographic).
EXTERNAL COMPETITIONS
These give members a chance to have their work more widely seen, and in the case of the NCPF Championships a chance to be selected for the PAGB (Photographic Alliance of Great Britain) national competition. Note that the Rules and actual entry dates are announced annually. Also, most competitions are a club entry, we select the best prints and PDIs we have at that time. The NCPF Annual Competition is an individual entry, what you enter goes into the competition, but the club selects from these to make a parallel club entry.
End of November: North Tyne Area (NTA) Print Comp.
The NTA comprises the following clubs: Cramlington PS, Gosforth CC, North Shields PS, Ponteland PS, Whitley Bay PS and ourselves This is a club entry.
Entries due in end October.
First Week in December: South Shields and Gateshead Print Comp.
A local interclub competition. This is a club entry.
Entries due in early November.
February: Northern Counties Photographic Federation (NCPF) Championships
Prints and PDIs This is a gateway competition where the two winning clubs in each competition (Prints and PDIs) are selected to represent the Federation at the National PAGB Championships. PDIs held in the summer at Warwick and Prints in October at Blackburn.
This is a club entry.
