Critique Group

The Critique Group is open to all members of TPS and visitors who want to find out about TPS. Meetings take place in our clubrooms at 7.30pm on the dates shown below.
 
The aim of the Critique Group is to help members develop their critique skills so they can look at their own work and improve their photography,  Members are also encouraged to use their skills to help fellow TPS members seeking help and advice.  Through the way meetings are organised, members will also be able to broaden their knowledge of the work and styles of noted photographers.
 
Everyone attending is encouraged to take part in discussions and to lead at least one critique over the course of the season.  At each meeting, four members present a photograph each, taken by a noted photographer of their choice.  Each image is projected, and the volunteer provides a brief biography of the life and work of the photographer then gives their critique of the image.
 
The core of the critique focuses on the areas of Emotion, Narrative, Framing, and Light & Colour.  Everyone then has the opportunity to discuss the image further allowing any learning points to be drawn out before moving on to the next image.  In this way members can practice and develop their critique skills.

Critique skills are a key tool to help us look at our own images and identify areas where we can improve, and the way we learn and develop our critique skills is by doing it, and doing it some more!  So why not come along and join in?
